Project: New Fire Detection & Alarm System Installation and CCTV Camera Extension
Client: Enfield Council
Value: £110K
A contract awarded in 2019 by Enfield Council to replace the existing conventional fire alarm system and the extension of the existing CCTV system to provide coverage to vulnerable areas of Hazlewood Infant & Junior School, Hazlewood Lane, London. N13 5HE.
We were responsible for development of the design, the supply, the installation, testing and commissioning of a complete analogue addressable ‘wireless’ fire detection and alarm system to provide Grade ‘A’ category ‘L2’ coverage in accordance with BS5839. The system incorporated central monitoring facilities via a “Redcare” telephone line connection and interlinking of the new addressable fire alarm control panels to enable system status signals to be sent to each other.
CCTV works involved the installation of additional CCTV cameras connected to the existing 16 channel DVR recorder utilising the spare channels available to provide coverage of the dining hall and playground areas which the school considered to be vulnerable areas. We were responsible for the provision of all necessary power and associated containment required to complete the installation in accordance with EMC regulations.
The Schools were live operational facilities during our works, and as Principal Contractor we had to ensure a programme of works around the needs of the Schools, adherence to strict health & safety rules/considerations, ensure secure and safe access/egress was maintained at all times, coordinate and programme fire alarm shut downs, with the School and the Fire Alarm Maintenance Provider and coordinate and programme CCTV system shut downs with Hazelwood Schools and the Security Maintenance Provider.
Works were completed within the 5-week project duration to the satisfaction of the school, the client and their stakeholders.
